2011-04-16, final stage of animal rights activist trial
Albeit almost completely unnoticed by the rest of the international community, veggies all over the world have taken great interest in the trial against some animal rights activists, headed by the (relatively) well known Martin Balluch.
They are accused of being involved in a campaign of terror against the Austrian corporation
Kleiderbauer, similar to that the made Peek & Cloppenburg remove all items with fur from their shops.
Unfortunately
It is my knowledge, that this alone would be enough for a conviction in the U.K., but: not in Austria.
And as uneasy this may be for me to say: Even the best evidence may not be sufficient to get people into jail, no matter how much they might deserve it. If the laws of a nation do not prevent activity against the very foundations of democracy and freedom, which is exactly what terrorism is, it is not the courts, it is the legislature that is to take action.
Unfortunately, those creeps managed to declare themselves martyrs, so I wonder if this has a fair chance to ever take place.
