2010-08-24, Laws against animal rights terrorism

Animal rights terror is an issue in more than only one country in the world, so it is an interesting thing to have a look a at the different ways the legislature deals with the problem in different countries:

In Great Britain, the country that doubtful pleasure to may be called the motherland of the animal rights lunacy, adopted theiranti-terror laws by extending their scope to include economical sabotage,1 the USA introduced the tailor-made Link:Animal Enterprise Terrorism Act, and Austria attempts to apply her laws against organized crime against the few animal rights looneys we have in this country. All in all, around the world have animal rights terror is more and more recognized as being a threat to national security, and reacted to accordingly. But whatever good intentions may there be, I think that the general direction all this goes in is wrong:

Animal rights terror means nothing less than to try to press through opinions not by democratic means, but by means of violence and terror, attacking the principle of freedom and democracy itself. And in my personal opinion, it would be “enough” to adjust the legislation to make it absolutely clear, that this is not tolerable.

Democracy is not only a basis for the peaceful coexistence of different opinions, it is a full-grown ideology by itself. Because freedom also means that nobody is allowed to disrespect the freedom of others.
